How do I download my Equals Card Transactions as .csv?

You can download .csv statements from most credit or business card providers including Equals. This article covers how to do this, as well as how to set up your Equals prepaid card account within ExpensePlus.

Features of Equals Cards

Here are a couple of key benefits of using Equals Cards:

  • Easy to add multiple cards
  • Low cost for charities with zero ongoing fees
  • Features for card spending limits, temporary pausing of cards, single-transaction limits, blocking of ATM transactions etc.

How they work

Money needs to be loaded into the Equals Money account before it can be spent. This is best done by bank transfer. Transfers generally show within Equals immediately and is available to spend.

Top Tip: When registering for an account with Equals even if you would like to have multiple cards, it's highly recommended you opt to have all cards linked to ONE shared Account Balance in Equals (rather than having multiple shared account balances!)

Setting up your Equals Prepaid Card Account

Whilst you are likely to have multiple Equals cards, typically you will only need ONE Equals Card account to ExpensePlus (if you opted to have all cards linked to ONE shared account balance).

Note: If you instead chose to have more than one shared account balance, then you are going to need to set each shared balance account as a seperate bank account within ExpensePlus. Not will this mean you have to repeat the process of downloading and uploading transactions each month for each of these accounts (rather than just doing this once), but you are also at a greater risk of mistakes!

To Add an Equals Account to ExpensePlus:

Note: If entering a 'start date' the account start date should be before the date of the first transaction (otherwise when you upload transactions, these will get excluded)

Downloading Transactions from Equals

Here is how you download transactions from equals:

  1. Log in to Equals Money and open “Transactions” from the left-hand menu

  1. Click the “download” icon from the right-hand side of the screen (just below the yellow icons)

  1. Select the 'statement' (not 'transactions activity), select “CSV” as the file format option, along with the account balance of interest

Note: This is usually just the “Account Balance” unless you have opted to have multiple account balances within Equals (not recommended)

  • Then choose the desired date range (usually “last month”), before clicking “done”.

Note: Equals then emails a download link to the CSV file, usually within 2-3 minutes

Uploading Transactions to ExpensePlus

Uploading transactions is simple and there is no need to modify the downloaded transaction file before uploading this to ExpensePlus:

  • Go to the bank reconciliation screen
  • Click 'upload transactions' for the bank account the transactions relate to
  • Select the Equals transaction file
  • Click 'Upload' then click 'Confirm'

Note: there is no need to manually select the column format, ExpensePlus will auto-detect this if you have downloaded transactions following the instructions for this in the section above.

Top Tip: When the popup appears to confirm the balance do check that this matches the account balance within Equals
