Year End Accounts - Legal & Admin Section
Completing the required fields in the legal and admin section of the year end accounts template on ExpensePlus is usually straightforward.
For organisations creating accruals accounts, if your charity is not a charitable company (i.e. not registered with Companies House), then it's important to leave the company number field blank (i.e. don't enter the text 'N/A').
If you don't enter anything into that field, it won't show within your final accounts. Entering any characters into that field if you are not a charitable company will result in the company number field showing in your year end accounts, and your year end accounts being incorrect.
Trustees
When adding trustees, be sure to add all of your trustees, and accurately state the dates that trustees joined or left. Only trustees who served as trustees during the financial year you are reporting on will appear within the year end accounts.
The SORP provides two options as to which trustees to list:
“The report must provide....the names of all those who were the charity’s trustees on the date the report was approved or who served as a trustee in the reporting period.”
ExpensePlus uses the simpler of these options, and includes all trustees who served during the reporting period.
You will need to add all your trustees in the leag and admin section of your year end accounts. You may have added some of your trustees as users to give access to your ExpensePlus account. Adding a trustee as an ExpensePlus user does not automatically add them to your list of trustees in your year end accounts.
