How do I record an investment purchase or the top-up of an investment?
This article is for churches and charities that account on an accruals basis.
Your organisation's investment portfolio is shown in the Investments module.
New investment purchases, or topping up an investment with cash, can be recorded through the bank matching screen.
When bank matching, where you have withdrawn money from your bank account to put into an investment, you should record this by:
- Clicking on the bank transaction in the left-hand table on the bank matching screen,
- Clicking the + button next to the tranaction
- in the Transaction Type drop-down menu that appears, selecting Money Invested.
Where this is a top-up for an existing investment, select the appropriate account from the list. If it is a new investment, click Add Investment.
The transaction will then be recorded within the specific investment (accessed via the Investments module), and the value of the investment will have been increased accordingly.
