Why has my bank account stopped quick matching transactions that worked last month?
On a month-by-month basis, ExpensePlus will learn your recurring transactions and memorise them for future quick matching. Read these articles for more details:
If you have just switched to open banking and automated bank feeds, see this helpguide article: Why are my transaction descriptions different when using automated bank feeds?
From time to time, your bank provider may change the format or labelling of the data exported via their CSV functionality. This may disrupt your memorised transactions.
Payee reference or description changes
If the payee reference (name of payee or donor) or the transaction description changes, you will need to manually reconcile the transaction and ask ExpensePlus to remember it for future purposes with the new details.
Alternatively, you can manage your memorised transactions in the Manage Remembered Transactions settings screen.
Bank CSV format changes
ExpensePlus supports all bank accounts from all providers.
In the majority of situations, you will be able to export your transactions from your bank as a CSV file and then upload these to ExpensePlus.
When your bank accounts are first set up in ExpensePlus (with the Bank & Cash accounts settings screen) you will have specified which bank provides the account. All the major providers are supported.

Once a provider is selected, ExpensePlus will know and follow the format of the CSV export to correctly match transactions for that bank provider.
However, from time to time, banks may change the format of their CSV export, which can change the format and labelling of bank references.
Where this is the case, the system may need to learn the new format and then re-remember some of the recurring transactions.
We regularly review the CSV formats of the main providers and often update the system with changes promptly.
If you are aware of a change that we haven't yet updated, please send us a message to let us know.
