Why can't I unmatch a donation?
Once Gift Aid has been claimed on a donation, you won't be able to unmatch it in the bank reconciliation module, as this would effectively delete the donation.
When you hover over the 'unmatch' button to the right of a donation on the bank statement screen and it is greyed out, in the popup it will say this: 'Gift Aid has been claimed on one or more transactions in this match, so it cannot be unmatched.'
What should I do if this was a donation, but coded to the wrong place?
If it should have been coded to a different category in the same fund, you can simply click through to the donation (from Donations Reports, or Income & Expenditure Reports), and change the category in the drop-down box as shown below.
If it should have been coded to a different fund and category, you will need to add a manual category transfer to correct for this. You can't change the fund of a donation that has had Gift Aid claimed on it. See our help guide article on Income Category Transfers.
What should I do if this transaction wasn't a donation?
If this transaction should never have been coded as a donation, you need to include a Gift Aid adjustment in your next claim to repay the overclaimed Gift Aid.
You may want to 'move' the income to a different category if, for example, the incoming transaction was actually to purchase an event ticket and the event has a separate income category. See our help guide article on Income Category Transfers.
