How can I profile or analyse my organisation's donor base?

It is very helpful for a charity or church to understand the profile of its donor base in detail. For instance, when it comes to effective risk management there is a huge difference between the following scenarios:

  • Charity with £100,000 income coming from one donor
  • Charity with £100,000 income, where 50 donors contribute an aggregate total of £5,000 per annum and 1 donor contributes £95,000 per annum
  • Charity with £100,000 income where givings is fairly evening split between 50 parties.

Without adequate profiling and analysis, all 3 of the scenarios above could be reported within management reports and accounts as purely £100,000 voluntary income.

Within ExpensePlus, the Monthly Comparison (Summary Totals) report helps illustrate your donor profile, allowing you to easily see bands of giving value, the aggregate total given within each band, and the number of donors per band.

The report is anonymised and therefore is a brilliant option to provide to organisational leaders who are not permitted to see the names of donors but do need to understand the financial health and sustainability of your organisation.
